Aquatic Effects Monitoring Program for Mining
Location: Northwest Territories
Date: 2021
- LTE Inc provided personnel and services to the primary contractor, Environmental Resources Management (ERM), to manage field delivery of the small-bodied fish component of the Aquatic Effects Monitoring Program for the Arctic Canadian Diamond Company in the Northwest Territories. This project involved managing field crews to ensure sufficient data collection to meet permitting requirements for mine operation under the Environmental Certificate. LTEC also assisted in field assessment of large bodied and investigation of restoration options for new development. Crews were responsible for electrofishing, minnow trapping, gillnetting, and biological sampling and fish habitat assessment. LTEC has provided similar services for mining operations in terrestrial, freshwater and marine environments in the Northwest Territories, Nunuvat, and northern British Columbia since 2006.
